MEXICO, Terruño Nayarita

The cooperative GTNAY (grupo Terruño Nayarita), founded in 2015 and already rounding up 600 members today, is based within the Tepec community in Nayarit, a state on the Western coast of Mexico. Coffee production in this area has been affected many times by the coffee leaf rust ailment, a plant disease that attacks the leaves of the coffee tree, impeding photosynthesis and eventually killing the plant. Luckily, disease resistant coffee plant varieties are getting more and more common, and the future is looking a lot brighter with regards to coffee production in the area. The coffee itself is very well balanced and pleasant, with spicy notes of dark chocolate, prune, and grapefruit. Actually, this is one of our CEO, Ulrik’s personal favorites.
