Nicaragua is an espresso-roasted coffee, very much loved here at the Brew Company – especially by our coffee roaster, Malu. This was one of the coffees developed and used for the Danish Barista Championships in early 2020. This coffee is an amazing experience in its own – a sweet and rich taste, with unique flavors of marzipan, dried kiwi and smoked oak.

In the region of Madriz, in Northern Nicaragua we find the PROCAFE cooperative which was founded in 2011 by 32 small coffee farmers and neighbours. Small farms such as these would rarely make their way onto the international specialty coffee market, to ensure proper conditions and wages for the farmers. However, by joining forces, the PROCAFE coffee farms have achieved good working conditions and free schooling for the farmer’s children, all while meeting ecological and Fairtrade standards.
