Born from a cupping among friends in Ihombe village, the Mwankumbi cooperative has flourished since 2016, growing from 44 to 161 dedicated smallholder farmers. Members skillfully home-process their fully washed beans, which are then quality-assessed at collection stations. From humble beginnings of 15t parchment coffee, they celebrated a yield of 94t in 2021, orchestrating every step from mill processing to sale with communal spirit and care.

  • SUSTAINABILITY

    We're passionate about ethical and sustainable practices at every step of the coffee-making process. From sourcing to roasting, our coffees are carefully selected, hand roasted and slow crafted. Our commitment to sustainability is reflected in our eco-friendly packaging, which uses kraft paper with minimal CCP laminate that's aluminum-free. We've gone the extra mile by not using the special PP plastic gas valve found in many other coffee packaging. We're also proud to be CO2 and Plastic Neutral, demonstrating our unwavering dedication to sustainability.

Our Tanzania coffee is complex and citrussy, with a medium body and crisp acidity. The cooperative was formed after neighboring farmers tasted the original Mwankumbi and recognized the challenges they were facing. The cooperative has since become a significant source of income and a strong community hub for the smallholder farmers of Ihombe, inspiring and encouraging others in the region to join forces and create similar cooperatives.
